Residential care &
nursing homes
There are over 15,000 registered care homes in the UK housing more than 400,000 residents yet access to professional therapeutic touch remains rare in most settings. Pamper Bubbles brings gentle, specialist wellness services directly to care homes and nursing homes, enhancing quality of life for residents through tailored massage therapy, relaxation sessions and mindfulness activities.
Our practitioners are experienced in working with older adults, people living with dementia, and residents with limited mobility adapting every treatment with care, dignity and sensitivity. We work with care home managers, activities co-ordinators and nursing directors to design programmes that complement existing care plans and CQC requirements.

40%
Of care home residents have dementia
Approximately 40% of UK care home residents have a dementia diagnosis. Gentle touch therapies are among the most evidence-based non-pharmacological interventions for dementia symptom management.
Tailored therapies for care & nursing home residents
Every treatment is adapted for the specific needs of older adults and those with health conditions or cognitive challenges. All sessions are gentle, fully clothed and delivered at the resident’s pace.
Hand & arm massage
A gentle, seated treatment targeting the hands, wrists and forearms delivered in a chair, armchair or at bedside. Improves circulation and reduces stiffness from arthritis and inactivity. Provides meaningful therapeutic touch for residents who receive little physical contact day-to-day. Sessions run 15–20 minutes and can be offered individually or as part of a group wellbeing session.
Head, face & scalp massage
A calming, non-invasive treatment targeting the scalp, temples, forehead and upper neck — performed seated or in a supported position. Particularly effective for residents with dementia, where gentle touch reduces agitation, encourages engagement and promotes a sense of safety and comfort. Can be combined with aromatherapy for enhanced calming effect.
Foot massage & reflexology
Gentle foot massage and adapted reflexology delivered in a chair, recliner or bed requiring no standing or movement from the resident. Improves circulation, reduces swelling, promotes relaxation and provides meaningful sensory stimulation. Especially valued by residents with limited mobility, peripheral circulation issues or those in long-term care who rarely leave their room.
Aromatherapy massage
Gentle massage using carefully selected therapeutic essential oils lavender to calm anxiety, peppermint to energise, rose to uplift mood. Aromatherapy has particular clinical value in dementia care, where scent-triggered memory recall can provide moments of recognition, comfort and emotional connection. All oils are selected for safety and skin sensitivity.
Gentle mindfulness & breathing
Adapted group mindfulness, breathing exercises and guided relaxation sessions designed specifically for older adults, delivered seated and accessible regardless of physical ability. Reduces anxiety, improves mood, lowers blood pressure and provides a structured, enjoyable group activity for residents. Can double as a meaningful entry on the home’s activities calendar.
Hand & nail treatments
Hand cream massage and nail care treatments that go beyond therapy to deliver a sense of pampering, personal care and dignity. Research confirms that regular hand and nail treatments in care settings improve residents’ self-esteem, sense of identity and overall mood. Enormously popular with residents and something many look forward to each visit.
The right programme for every care setting
Residential care homes
We work with residential care home managers and activities co-ordinators to deliver recurring monthly wellness sessions typically a mix of hand massage, foot massage and mindfulness as part of the home’s structured activities programme. Sessions are scheduled around mealtimes and existing care routines, with our practitioners fully briefed on individual resident needs beforehand.
Nursing homes
Nursing homes require practitioners with a higher level of clinical awareness and sensitivity. All Pamper Bubbles practitioners working in nursing settings receive additional briefing on contraindications, medication interactions and mobility considerations. We work closely with nursing directors and care co-ordinators to ensure every session is safe, appropriate and genuinely beneficial for each resident.
Dementia care settings
We have specific experience delivering wellness services in dementia care units, where our practitioners are trained to adapt communication, pacing and touch to the individual resident’s stage and preferences. Gentle touch therapies particularly head massage, hand massage and aromatherapy are among the most effective non-pharmacological approaches to reducing agitation and supporting emotional wellbeing in dementia care.
How we work in care settings
We understand that care homes and nursing homes are home not just facilities. Every aspect of how we work is designed to respect residents’ dignity, comfort and individuality. We never rush, never apply pressure beyond a resident’s tolerance, and always stop if a resident indicates they are uncomfortable.
Pre-visit briefing with care staff
Before every visit, we speak with the activities co-ordinator or care manager to understand individual residents’ needs, preferences and any contraindications or conditions we need to be aware of.
Resident consent at every session
We seek clear, active consent from each resident before beginning any treatment and we are trained to interpret and respect non-verbal communication for residents with cognitive challenges.
Adapted treatments for every individual
No two residents are the same. Our practitioners adapt pressure, technique, duration and communication style for each individual.
Structured activity calendar integration
Our care home programmes are designed to integrate with your existing activities calendar — appearing on resident schedules as a regular, anticipated event.
Our care home practitioners are:
-
ITEC or VTCT qualified massage therapists with full professional indemnity insurance.
-
DBS checked (Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service) as standard for all care settings.
-
Trained in contraindications specific to older adults including medication interactions, skin fragility and circulatory conditions.
-
Dementia-communication certified with specialist training in staging, pacing, and sensory support.
